On January 22, 1904, Deutsche Bank based in Barcelona German Transatlantic Bank, initially created to expand in South America. Branches opened in Madrid in 1907 and Seville in 1928.
After World War II, all German properties were frozen in Spain and the Spanish government confiscated and sold the properties. In 1950 a new company took over the assets of the German Transatlantic Bank and the activity started again with the name of the Transatlantic Business Bank, Bancotrans name with which he operated until 1994.
Deutsche Bank re-entered the capital of Bancotrans gradually since 1953, through a subsidiary.
